Current Outreach Opportunities
As needs arise and opportunities become available, the members of the Decatur Quilters Guild engage
in the following Outreach Projects.

Please join with us as we support the following:

The Linus Project National Organization. Our members donate the blankets and quilts for sick and traumatized children.

Cancer Care Units of our local hospitals, DMH and St. Mary's. Our members make and donate neck pillows and quilts for cancer patients.

Local Charities. When needs arise with not-for-profit organizations, finished quilts are donated for charity auctions and raffles.

Basic quilt making classes. All who join the Guild may attend for free. Non-members are asked for a $25 donation to the Guild. This is an 8-10 week class.

Local Nursing Homes/Assisted Living Facilities. Our members present a mini quilt show for residents of local facilities.

Harbor Lights Veterans Hospice and other Veteran Groups. Our members make and donate patriotic quilts for veterans in hospice care.

DMH Hospice

Matt from Decatur Memorial Hospice admires several of the 21 butterfly pillowcases that were recently donated to
for the Hospice patients.
Free basic quilting classes
Would you like to learn to quilt? The Decatur Quilters Guild offers basic quilting classes. These classes are 100% free and are available during the day and in the evening at various times during the year. Anyone from 8-80 years old is welcome to join with us and you do not need to be a member of the Decatur Quilters Guild to participate.

As members of the Decatur Quilters Guild we have participated in many Community Outreach Projects over the years.
Our members have supported
the following organizations and individuals:

Project Linus - a national organization that makes blankets for children in trauma.

Richland Community College - the recipient of a quilt designed especially for them.

Decatur Public Library - the recipient of a quilt designed and made by Guild members.

Local Nursing Homes - recipients of wheel chair quilts and lap quilts.

Non-profit organizations - recipients of charity quilts for fundraising projects.

Basic quilt making classes - taught by members.

Nursing Homes and Assisted Living facilities - mini trunk shows of member quilts.

New Life Pregnancy and Angels Cove Ministries - quilts were donated for newborns of women in crisis.
The Decatur Quilters Guild is a not-for-profit organization made up of quilters who enjoy sharing
their love of quilting with the community by volunteering whenever we can as part of our
Decatur Quilters Guild Outreach Program.
