Please join with us as we support the following:

  • Cancer Care Units of our local hospitals, DMH and St. Mary's.  Our members make and donate neck pillows and quilts for cancer patients.

  • Local Charities.  When needs arise with not-for-profit organizations, finished quilts are donated for charity auctions and raffles.

  • Basic quilt making classes.  All who join the Guild may attend for free.  Non-members are asked for a $25 donation to the Guild.  This is an 8-10 week class.

  • Check the announcements for Night Group soon for possible upcoming Quilting 101 class.

  • Local Nursing Homes/Assisted Living Facilities.  Our members present a mini quilt show for residents of local facilities.

  • Transitions Veterans Hospice and other Veteran Groups.  Our members make and donate patriotic quilts for veterans in hospice care.

Free basic quilting classes

Would you like to learn to quilt? The Decatur Quilters Guild (DQG) offers a basic quilting class to DQG members and non-members.  The class is a series of 8 to 10 lessons on pattern and fabric selection, accurate cutting techniques, basic sewing machine maintenance, sewing accuracy, hand and machine piecing and quilting, and much, much more. Each lesson is 1 ½ to 2 hours. Anyone from 8-80 years old is welcome to join us.  The class is free to Decatur Quilt Guild members in good standing. The non-member fee for the 10 lessons is $25, which means the quilter can automatically become a member and enjoy the many other benefits of DQG membership. NEW CLASS:
