Past Outreach Projects

As members of the Decatur Quilters Guild we have particpated in many Community Outreach Projects over the years.  

 

For example we have supported

the following organizations and individuals:

  • Made hundreds of quilts and blankets for Project Linus, a national organization that makes blankets for ill and traumatized children;

  • Designed and made the quilt that currently hangs on the campus of Richland Community College;

  • Designed and made the quilt on display at the Decatur Public Library;

  • Made special neck pillows for the Cancer Care patients;

  • Made wheel chair quilts for residents of local nursing homes;

  • Make lap quilts for bedridden residents in local nursing homes;

  • Make a quilt each year to donate to a local charity for a fundraising project;

  • Offer free basic quilt making classes to anyone in the community;

  • Visit local nursing homes and assisted living facilities for the purpose of showing quilts we have made;

  • Volunteered time in a booth at the Farm Progress Show;

  • Made quilts for veterans in Illinois Veteran’s Hospitals

As needs arise and opportunities become available, the members of the Decatur Quilters Guild engage

in the following Outreach Projects.

The Decatur Quilters Guild is a not-for-profit organization made up of quilters who enjoy sharing

their love of quilting with the community by volunteering whenever we can as part of our

Decatur Quilters Guild Outreach Program.

DMH Hospice

Matt from Decatur Memorial Hospice admires several of the 21 butterfly pillowcases  that were recently donated to 

for the Hospice patients.       

CHARITY QUILT 

This beautiful quilt pictured is our 2016 Charity quilt which was awarded to Dennis School 6th and 7th Graders for their Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser.  Pictured are their teachers Ashley Koeling (left) and Amanda Popovich (right).

Free basic quilting classes 

Would you like to learn to quilt? The Decatur Quilters Guild offers basic quilting classes.  These classes are 100% free and are available during the day and in the evening at various times during the year.  Anyone from 8-80 years old is welcome to join with us and you do not need to be a member of the Decatur Quilters Guild to participate.

The second and fourth Wednesday of the month

Time:  10:00am - 2:00pm

The fourth Monday of the month, March thru October

Time: 5:30pm - 8:30pm
